Here’s a list of the top five things to look for in flooring and window treatment retailer or contractor.

1. The team should have all the correct licenses
Two of the primary licenses that a team should have are the C20 and C16A licenses issued by the Nevada Board of Contractors for flooring installations. Additionally, companies have to be licensed with the city and state as well as bonded and insured. Did you know that most products (especially flooring) have void warranties unless a licensed installer installs them? There are many handymen out there with a license number, but they are not licensed to install flooring. When you hire a contractor, you want to make sure they have the correct credentials so, as a client, you are protected.

2. The supply store should assist if the items have issues in future
Consider working with the showroom or local brick and mortar stores because they usually are a value add to ensure that they will address all issues that arise in the future. Many installers sell the seconds or damaged products that they receive from their garage, a lot cheaper. When you purchase from a specialized local dealer you are ensured to receive a quality product, and if you have any issues, you have a place to turn to as you probably won’t be able to find your installer’s garage you used.

3. Companies should have their teams
When you hire a company, make sure their installers are employees, not contractors (such as big box stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s). The company will pass the buck back to the “contractors” for you to deal with even though you purchased from the business. With C & J, all our employees, including our installers and field technicians are a part of our team.

4. Go with big names in the business
The reputation of the business is super important when purchasing shutters, blinds and flooring. Does the company stand behind its work? If there are issues, do they take care of them? What are my friends and neighbors specifically saying about the company? Most of the larger companies have websites, and there would be many testimonials and other information about them online. Going through all the information possible is important before making up your mind about it.

5. Quality of Product
You get what you pay for. Online companies are selling similar products for a “cheaper” price - This ends up costing you more in the long run because you will have to replace them sooner, costing you double. If it’s too good to be true - it is too good to be true. Do not try to cut corners and save a few bucks here and there because you would end up compromising on quality. If you do not want to spend on changes, we suggest waiting for a point when you do and then investing and committing to getting new blinds and flooring.
